Every year we celebrate independence day by singing the national anthem, saluting the flag and munch on some toffees or sweets given. This year for a change took part in a social service program organised by an NGO named Bhumi ( who work on community development) the prog started off with a candle light oath at around 11:30 pm followed by speeches from people who got benefited. But the touching speech was given by the founder of this NGO who being a MBA grad left everything in his life for this. Post the speeches, everyone lend a hand to improve the surroundings of a govt school where this event was held. Cleared the garbage, planted some tree saplings and painted the school as well. In my 27 years of celebrating independence day never felt so happy da way i did after participating in this event. Although we should feel ashamed for all the controversies surrounding the big guns in our government, doing our part as a educated and responsible citizen makes them feel happy and also makes us feel proud.

MONEY
From the day we are born and till the day we are laid back, the way humans breathe inorder to keep their body/vital organs alive, people need MONEY in the same way to survive. Money became a trend setter in the modern era as our country men used to have Barter System earlier. The business that we do and the economy of our country made it so valuable.
Although I haven't seen a bit of Barter System have seen a tremendous change in the mindset of people towards Money. When I did my schooling, I used to get a pocket money of 3-5 Rs a day which has no value among so many people ( especially kids) at present. Its just 2 decades which bought this change, the credit for which should go the IT industry because of which our business, trade, man power etc etc improved in our country.
The value of this has changed to

The National Stock exchange which was promoted in November 1992 through couple of financial institutes, banks and some foreign investors made an entry into International trade. Almost 18 years went by, but WE as a Nation do not have a symbol and significance to our currency as it was termed Rs or Re. In the last year's budget and on July 5th 2010, finally the finance minister revealed the symbol of Indian currency which showcases our rich heritage and culture.
Due to the presence of highly skilled and cheap labour in our country, there were a number of IT companies who outsourced work to our country which bought a lot of cash in flow. This subsequently multiplied and grew into a unstoppable sector where gains are more for people working in it. People from different back ground and various study streams entered into this field as the money is tempting.
This has both advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages:
With the introduction of BPO's and part time work opportunities, students and people who are financially backward get a chance to work and study at the same time.
Being Independant of each other and taking the extra responsibility
The main disadvantage is
With our wallets filling and we being independant, people are forgetting our culture, getting modernized and habituated to western culture which is clearly visible.
To be continued...........

EDUCATION
Was going through the newspaper yesterday and good to see the entire 2nd page written about education in our country. This reminded me of the speech given by our Ex president Dr. Abdul Kalam in Hyderabad. Although we are independent from the past 60+ years, we are still a developing nation with lot of potential to conquer the world. The problem I see here is that we haven't researched enough to improve the education system. It is a lot theoritical compared to the western countries where practical training is imparted. Right from our childhood, we carry lots of books to school, do our home work on time etc etc. At this point, I do agree that strong foundation yields good success, but not to an extent of studying 12 hrs a day from Pre KG.
Education being a basic right to all humans is not in reach to most of them due to various reasons main being poverty. Also I criticize the parents for not letting their kids go to school in few cases. Today we see lot of children begging near the traffic signals, which is a big business. To be more clear, they are not by birth into this act, but are forced into it by their parents for livelihood. The amount they get per day will be taken by their association/agent and they will be paid few pennies out of it. Another sad thing is "Human Sentiment" which is a big plus for these kids. Whenever we see ladies with kids <1 year, we feel a lot and give away money, but these kids are given an injection "Pentothal" which makes them unconscious for 24 hours and given this frequently the kids die in a week-10 days. Children who are considered the future of our Nation are into such acts at an age when they should be going to school.
There are lot of people who can be taken as examples who are striding to improve the education system and also life of these children , but the example I chose is of Anand Kumar who is the founder of Super 30
http://www.super30.org/
Looking at the positive side of this, we feel proud of having IIM's which are considered amongst the best in the world. That being said, there are many people from our country who invented things in their own fields, but their foundation or credit taken by western countries. This is a debatable topic to say, but thats how it is.
Before concluding this, I have few questions to myself and others as well.
Should we be proud of what we achieved till date?
Will our future generation atleast study in a developed nation?
Are we heading in the right direction to foresee a better future?

TIME & LIFE
Before I start writing about the said title, want to let you"ll know that this is my first blog in my site and i am kinda excited about it as I started taking this seriously from dis moment.
People have their own perception of time and its value, so I am not going to waste your precious time with my lecture, but as this being my 1st blog, would like to share my experience of time in real life.
Being a part of the IT industry for 5 years now, realized the importance of time off late. I had to struggle a lot to find a straight path in my life. Everything looks zig zag for me, had so many thoughts in mind and as I couldn't fulfill all of them, had to sacrifice and started my career as a management trainee in a pvt firm. Although the work is to talk to customers, get their opinion and enroll them for a social cause, it taught me lot of things especially the importance of time. As my job involved a lot of travelling and as I do not own a bike at that time, it was real tough for me to reach the customer's place in time. I had to hear and bear lot of bla bla bla's from customer as I made them wait. This made me realize that world is running on time. The reason for stating the above example is although I was late, the things that he told to me about life , time and its importance moved me so much that I quit my job and moved in the direction which is close to my heart.
This being my first blog, recollected this fond memory and thought of letting people who read this know the value of time. Before I end this, a small message. Time lets you know/do things, and it also marks an impression of you to others. Like the saying which goes, "First Impression is the best Impression" make sure that you adhere to it and follow it religiously.
